Barwell has several Guillotine machine tools at its site in Bedford these are used for cutting sheet metal with a straight cut. They work by driving down an angled blade onto the material to slice along the length of the cut. Like many other machine tools, although traditionally operated manually Barwell’s modern guillotines are motor powered and CNC controlled, making cutting quicker, more accurate and safer. In this process the blade cuts through some of the material with the final separation actually due to the metal fracturing.
Barwell’s skilled operator will calculate the most efficient cutting solutions optimising material usage and minimising waste.
Barwell stocks a large variety of sheet material on site in both mild and stainless steels at several “deck” finishes. This enables us to offer customers reduced prices and choice whether based on integral properties or cosmetic finish.
